A Candidate Forum was jointly hosted by the Lufkin Chamber of Commerce and the Angelina County Citizens Chamber of Commerce at the Pines Theater in Lufkin, Texas on March 18th. All candidates for current elections in Angelina County were invited to attend. Those elections included School Board races for Lufkin, Hudson, Huntington, Center and Zavalla School Districts, as well as Lufkin City Council candidates. Each candidate was given two minutes to introduce themselves and talk about their platform or reasons for running. Then the candidates were allowed to randomly pick two questions from preselected questions. The question was read by one of the hosts and the candidate had one min to answer. This was an informational forum and not a debate format. The only Zavalla candidate to present at the forum was Jaime West, current candidate for a position on the Zavalla School Board. Deadline to register to vote in this election is April 3rd. The Zavalla School Board election will be held on May 3rd.
