The Free Little Pantry Continues to Bless the Community

Zavalla continues to come together as a community to address the needs of residents that may need a hand up. The Free Little Pantry has and many visitors since its installation in the gazebo at the Blueberry Bogg on Main Street. We caught up with Gail Lumb on Saturday, April 5th, as she left items donated for the pantry. She received the items from the Johnson Baptist Church. The church was handing out bread on Saturday as part of their outreach efforts as well.

When asked what she thinks of The Free Little Pantry, she shared her enthusiasm, “Oh my goodness. I think it’s fabulous””, and “you know Lufkin has a has a blessing box, but it’s not near this size… I’ve dropped off stuff there and then when I when I saw that y’all were going to do that this is wonderful because there’s a there’s a lot of need in this community.”

When asked what other things she would like to see in the community, she responded. “we definitely need a daycare” and “that a community center would be nice and something for the seniors”.

A positive feeling is in the air with Zavalla residents. With organizations like Pineywoods Beyond and Zavalla Prairie (ZPCC) partnering in initiatives, good things for Zavalla can happen.
